EASY DIY Halloween Porch Decoration
An EASY DIY Halloween themed porch leaner set that you CAN definitely do. I am learning this part of my industry- But, I really want to document these new things I am doing so you can as well!
So, My dad has been doing some carpentry work and saved a whole pallet of his scraps for me to mess around with. When my mom sent me this picture I started tinkering!
Supplies list: (You can find direct links also throughout this blog to the items. I am an amazon affiliate, and I can earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you!)
- Wood pieces- I used fence I already had
- Sand paper or sanding tool
- Apple Barrel Paint in the colors you need or want!
- Paint brushes-- I use these low cost ones for this
- You will also need Vinyl if you want to use vinyl for the faces and I always recommend HTVRONT in a variety pack because you will have a lot of options to choose from and its low cost ! (The route will require a Cricut or cameo) ( right now there is 10 percent off the vinyl! Valid until 10.1.24
- DTF prints or vynl prints (What I used)
- Garnishments like these bows already tied! Or, If you already have ribbon you want to make a bow out of watch a few tutorials on that with Tracy's Trendy Decor
You can get similar pieces from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Home depot
So, after I messed up 100 things-- I learned you have to sand these little turds when they are like this. This was LOW cost and SO EASY! This little sanding tool is perfect for anyone! The little sandpapers just Velcro to the handle! So easy. So first, You will want to sand these to a smooth finish.
For this project, I chose a Ghost, a Pumpkin, and a Frankenstein! You can choose any little scary creature you want! I highly suggest Creative Fabrica for all of your svg and project needs when it comes to files! If you use this link you get the Font & Design Referral Bonus for free! I printed these DTF and pressed on, but you can make a stencil to paint, or cut it in permanent vinyl.
After you have sanded your boards smooth on the side you are painting, you can paint them! I personally only use Apple Barrel, It requires less coats and is cheap!
These are the paint brushes I mentioned above
This is what I call my lazy girl paint method! Squirt it on there and paint!
Next, You will want your paint to be COMPLETELY dry! You can use a heat gun if you have one- However, Air dry is fine and so is a blow dryer.
Next, you will simply free hand paint, press, or stick on the face to the coordinating wood! For the orange, I heat pressed on a jack-o-lantern face. Snazzy, if I do say so!
After, That, I suggest a bow (Heck, I always do!) - I used these as I CANNOT tie a decent bow to save my life!
This Halloween project would make the PERFECT girls night in, and decor for any fall Halloween party's!
