How to make your own sublimation coasters

How to make your own sublimation coasters

Easy Directions for sublimating your ceramic sublimation coasters!

A friend of mine and I always exchange birthday gifts every year because we are both creators of different crafts, and we get geeked about making stuff for each other! This year, I decided on making special ceramic coasters. These were themed about old buildings and places we had in our town but are no longer a thing ( But are core memories for most townies!)

Of course, I documented so that I could show you a small tutorial on this gift I think it so cool!

Supplies List:

- Ceramic Coasters They HAVE to be coated with the sublimation coating, i recommend these ones! You can also get smaller packs.

- Sublimation paper- This is a WONDERFUL brand and can be found in my shop everyday!

- Lint roller

- Heat Tape

- Butcher Paper - This is the most bang for your buck and you definitely need it in sublimation art!

- I must also suggest this tape dispenser! I LOVE IT! I don't know how I ever got along without it!

  1. Prepare the coasterUse a lint roller to remove any dust or debris from the coaster.
  2. Prepare the designUse a sublimation printer to create a mirrored print of your design.
  3. Position the design on the coasterPlace the sublimation print face down on the coaster, and align the edges. Use heat-resistant tape to hold the print in place.
  4. Prepare the heat pressSet the heat press to 400° Fahrenheit and set the timer. You can use a white cardstock on the pressing pad.
  5. Press the coasterPlace the coaster on the pressing pad with the design facing up and the coaster facing down. Put a piece of butcher paper on top of the coaster. Press for 60–240 seconds, depending on the type of press you're using.
  6. Cool and removeAllow the coaster to cool for at least 10 minutes. Then, remove the coaster from the press, and peel off the tape, blowout paper, and printed sheet.
