Supplements I am taking in my adult life as a Woman with ADHD
I'm no doctor, but as a woman with ADHD, I definitely have my moments of hyper-focusing on specific topics—one of them being overall wellness and brain health. So, naturally, I went down the research rabbit hole and put together a list of supplements that I’ve obsessively investigated. Consider it my ADHD-approved deep dive into all things brain-boosting! While there is absolutely no substitute for following a healthy diet with an abundance of fruits and vegetables, supplements can help bridge the gap and provide you with essential vitamins and minerals that you may be lacking.

So basically, you shop, Amazon pays me a tiny ‘thank you,’ and we all win. Also, these are my own totally unfiltered opinions!
(If you want the shortened version, the supplements below are what I take daily. Keep on reading if you want to find out why)
If you’ve taken a walk down the supplement aisle of your local grocery or health food store, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s overwhelming! Bottle after bottle of vitamins, minerals, “miracle pills,” etc.
How does one REALLY know what they should be taking-- Well, You can consult your physician (Which you should do anyways no matter where you get your information on Supplements) but you should also RESEARCH. There are so many ways to research over all wellness for our bodies! At the bottom, I have referenced some GREAT books if you are a reader.
I recognize that quality vitamins are NOT cheap- So, it won't hurt you to just start slow, and buy a bottle of something new WHEN YOU CAN!
Omega-3 fatty acids- Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids – this means that our body cannot produce them itself, so we need to get them from outside sources. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential polyunsaturated fats that play a vital role in maintaining overall health. We can all use it.
- May help with hyperactivity, attention, and impulsivity
- May improve neural efficiency and cognitive performance
- You can get it from certain foods: Eggs, fatty fish like Salmon, Flaxseeds, Chia seeds, Walnuts, Algae oil, and Rapeseed oil (there are more, This is just to name a few)
If you are like me (Which if you are reading this, you likely are) You don't eat enough foods with the Omega-3 Fatty Acids in it-- If you cannot meet your daily omega-3 needs through diet (Who knew you couldn't find it in cookie dough?!), consider taking supplements. Fish oil, krill oil, and flaxseed oil are common sources of omega-3 supplements. If you click HERE-- You will find the exact one I recommend based off of my own experiences and the reviews.
If you’ve been tested by your healthcare provider and found to be lacking in particular vitamins or minerals, then obviously, follow their advice on the steps you should be taking.
NatureWise Vitamin D3 5000iu
My sister, an RN, mentioned that a doctor told her taking at least 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 could help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. That got me researching because, honestly, the idea of losing my mind is terrifying.
What I found:
🧠 Low vitamin D3 levels are linked to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and MS.
😌 It may help with mood, anxiety, and brain fog.
📚 It can improve memory, slow cognitive decline, and protect neurons.
Basically, vitamin D3 is now a must-have in my daily routine! CLICK HERE for the exact one in my cabinet.
Magnesium Glycinate (Don't get the other one, You will crap your brains out!)
I take this about an hour before I lay down at night because it helps me relax NATURALLY! Need to chill? This high-absorption Magnesium supplement is basically a spa day for your muscles, bones, heart, and nerves—minus the cucumber slices and Enya playlist. CLICK HERE for the exact one that I use.
ADHD happens when certain brain chemicals—like dopamine and norepinephrine—are lower than they should be. These chemicals help with focus, motivation, and feeling rewarded for getting things done. When they’re off balance, it can make it harder to pay attention, control impulses, and stay still.
For this reason, I also take a the following supplements for ADHD in particular:
B Vitamins (especially B6, B9, B12) – CLICK HERE FOR THE EXACT ONE I USE.
B vitamins are basically the hype squad for your brain. Here’s why you need them:
🔹 Brain Juice – They help make dopamine and serotonin, so your brain doesn’t run on "low battery" mode.
🔹 Energy Boost – Turns your snacks into fuel, so you’re less likely to nap mid-thought.
🔹 Mood Manager – Helps keep stress in check so you don’t go from chill to meltdown in 0.2 seconds.
🔹 Brain Fog Bouncer – Keeps your mind sharp instead of making you wonder why you just walked into a room.
Basically, B vitamins are the MVPs of focus, energy, and not losing your mind (literally).
L-Tyrosine- Click here for the exact one I use on a daily basis.
L-Tyrosine is like the VIP pass for your brain to stay sharp and focused. Here’s why it’s a game-changer:
🧠 Dopamine Dealer – Helps your brain make more dopamine, so you can actually focus instead of staring into space.
⚡ Stress Shield – Keeps your brain from short-circuiting when life gets chaotic.
🚀 Energy Boost – Fuels mental endurance, so you don’t feel like you ran out of brain power by noon.
🤯 Memory Muscle – Helps with recall, so you can actually remember why you walked into the kitchen.
