An Easy Salsa Recipe
I have been making this FOREVER, and I learned when I was a kid from my aunt Jennifer. I don't have a great handle on "Measurements" but I tried! The ingredients are really simple: Fresh tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, lime, & garlic. I also add a little olive oil, Salt, and Pepper! You can watch me do that here on my video of me making this salsa for the kids!
Now, In the in the south this is "Salsa", but when you tell people in Ohio about it they say "OHHH, Pico De Gallo". Now, I will also say this the the perfect Chipotle Pico copy cat recipe as well. Tastes very similar.
I mainly made this tonight because I was excited to try out my new food chopper! and it did NOT disappoint. I HIGHLY recommend you get one of these. I also use my FAVORITE knife set by Martha Stewart, Of course in the Mint color.
Now, Here are all of the things I use for mine:
-10 Roma Tomatoes
- 1 Onion
-1 Jalapeno
- 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup Cilantro
-2 garlic cloves
-1 lime
- Drizzle of Olive Oil
-Salt to taste
-Pepper to taste
You will want to cut the tomatoes into 4 pieces each, and only Dice 1-2 of the pieces at a time! Here is what mine looked like before I put them in my dicer:
After that you will Dice everything else, and Chop your Cilantro as finely as you can, and squeeze the lime in!
-
Place all ingredients into a large bowl, including your drizzle of olive oil
- Mix and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover and place in fridge until ready to serve! I recommend giving it 2-3 hours to blend together in the fridge but it is great ANYTIME!
