Tator tot Pizza Casserole
I am sorry but not even the best 5 star pizza restaurant in your area holds a candle to this "struggle meal".
If you asked me which "struggle meals" I would still eat if I were rich-- This pizza casserole made of your favorite toppings (Or, what you have on hand if this is a TRUE struggle meal) and tater tots would definitely be on the list.
After all, we all know that some of the best food is really, really cheap (looking at you, Cinnamon and Sugar toast!).
I’d definitely call this a Dutch oven must-try! If you follow me, you know my Dutch oven gets a lot of use. Want to see it in action? Click here for the TikTok Shop link with a video of me using it! Or, if you’re an Amazon shopper, click here to grab one for yourself! 🍲🔥
Now, HOW do you make Tator Tot pizza Casserole?
The best part? You can customize it with any pizza toppings you love! I went with Italian sausage and some leftover pepperoni I found in the fridge. The total cost came in just under $11, and if I had to buy a bag of pepperoni, it would be around $13 for the whole pot.
Here’s what I used:
- 30 oz bag of tater tots
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese (freshly grated)
- 1 jar of pizza sauce (14 oz)
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 10 slices of pepperoni (leftover from the fridge!)
I followed the baking instructions on the tater tot bag—mainly because I was already frying up the Italian sausage. You don’t have to pre-bake them, but I wanted to! While they were in the oven, I grated my cheese using my Rotary Cheese Grater (seriously, get one—it’s a game-changer! We don’t do pre-shredded cheese anymore). But if you prefer bagged cheese, go for it! If you want the tik tok link-- Just Click here. Mobile app only-

Once the tater tots were done, I started layering: tater tots → sauce → sausage → cheese—repeating until I ran out of ingredients. Then, I placed the pepperoni on top, covered the Dutch oven with its lid, and baked at 350°F for about 20 minutes. If you like a crispier top, you can pop it back in uncovered for a few more minutes to brown. 🔥🍕
